Action for Social Change Program

The program is a continuation of the Karamoja Integrated Education Project phase I and II (KITENEP).  In the two phases, ADRA Uganda mainly used a service delivery approach to start building the community structures in the areas of Education, Food security, HIV/AIDS among others.  In addition, the KITENEP I and II formed the initial stages in building a strong civil society in the Karamoja.

However the role of Civil Society in the development process have gained more focus for both local and international development agencies and many donors are increasingly realising the much potential embedded in Civil Society  in ensuring sustainable development and poverty alleviation.  Therefore ADRA Uganda together with ADRA Denmark developed the Action for Social Change Program to put in place a strengthened vibrant, locally rooted civil society in Uganda which can be a dynamic actor in social, political and economical development processes in areas of formal, non-formal education, health, and livelihood & food security.
