What is ADRA?

ADRA is an independent humanitarian world wide agency established in 1965 by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, by then it was called Seventh – day Adventist World Service (SAWS) and in 1983 the name was changed to Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) with the specific purpose of individual and community development and disaster relief. ADRA’s presence is in over 125 countries worldwide and helps people without regard to age, ethnicity and political or religious association.

In Uganda, ADRA was established and registered with the government in 1987 soon after the civil strife and started mainly with relief activities. Since then ADRA has evolved into a reputable community based development agency operating in 11 districts of e country. ADRA Uganda is operating under 5 portfolios which include:

Primary Health
Education
Food Security
Economic Development
Disaster and Relief Management
